STOP Industrial Solar and Wind

Industrial solar and wind farms sounded like a good idea, until thorough research was conducted that shows the many negative impacts that industrial solar and wind farms have on our lives. If you don't think it's a problem here in Huntington County, think again. There are already numerous plans to install these industrial solar farms in your backyard.

The phrase "renewable energy" may sound nice, but after many studies, we have seen the true effects of industrial solar and wind farms. Studies show that solar and wind farms cause surrounding properties to lose value, destroy thousands of America's best agriculture acres, and create mass amounts of non-recyclable, hazardous waste.

Negative Impacts of Industrial Solar

Depletes Agricultural Land
Industrial solar farms hold America’s farmland hostage in misleading rental contracts allowing energy companies to have full control over farmers’ properties. Additionally, the installation of industrial solar farms destroys agricultural land to a level that cannot be overturned. Moreover, during the removal process, heavy metals are added to the soil raising safety concerns even decades after the panels have been removed.

Generates Non-Recyclable Waste
The average life of a solar panel is between 20 and 30 years, yet energy companies fail to provide a legitimate plan to recycle or dispose of the degraded solar panels, which will be spreading over thousands of acres. Additionally, the panels are built with heavy metals which create a hazardous waste concern.

Degrades Surrounding Land Value
Multiple studies show that not only does the value of the land which solar panels are installed decrease, but the surrounding land and house values also lose extensive value due to the visual blight and health concerns caused by industrial wind and solar.

Kills Ecosystems
The process of overtaking land and creating an area suitable for solar farms destroys native grasslands and habitats for wildlife. These industrial complexes not only kill the habitat but force the species out and into other areas that may not be suitable for living.

Negative Impacts of Wind Turbines

Poses Health Concerns
Wind turbines create multiple health concerns for people living near them. Wind turbines create a flicker effect in houses that can last a few minutes to a few hours every day. This flicker effect poses health concerns and the only way to overcome it is to close all the curtains in your home every day. The other health concern is the constant noise and buzzing that they create constantly.

Generates Pollution
Wind turbines are often not taken out of commission soon enough, and as wind turbines degrade, their fiberglass materials fall into the surrounding ground where it will remain for decades. This creates hazardous pollution that you as the property owner has to deal with.

Lowers the Quality of Living
Industrial wind farms generate noise and visual blight that lowers the beauty of the landscape as well as the quality of living for those in the area.

Degrades Surrounding Land Value
Just like industrial solar farms, multiple research studies show that the surrounding land and house values lose extensive value due to the visual blight and health concerns caused by wind turbines.
